Building Safer
Nights - Together
Discover our approach to safety, support, and partnership within the UK’s night-time economy.
About the National Night Safety Partnership
The National Night Safety Partnership (NNSP) is a united initiative bringing together night-time economy stakeholders, public and private sector partners, training providers, and enforcement agencies to create safer nights for all.
We focus on raising standards, promoting collaboration, and prioritising public safety across the UK’s nightlife sector. From licensed venues to frontline security professionals, we work directly with those best positioned to respond to the growing challenges facing our communities after dark.
Our Mission
To create a safer, more welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy the UK’s night-time economy — by delivering high-quality training, increasing sector resources, and driving joint action across all levels of the industry.
Our Vision
We envision a UK night-time economy where safety is not an afterthought — but a shared, visible, and embedded standard. One where individuals can enjoy a night out without fear, where frontline workers feel prepared and supported, and where public and private sector partners are united in their responsibility to protect.
Our goal is to foster vibrant, inclusive nightlife spaces that prioritise wellbeing, promote vigilance, and empower communities. Through collaboration, training, and innovation, we’re working to build a future where every night out is safer — for everyone.
What We Do
We equip frontline professionals with the tools to recognise and respond to real threats — including violent crime, sexual offences, and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Through targeted training and strategic collaboration, we’re setting a higher standard of care in nightlife spaces.
Our approach includes:
Specialist Training: Focused programmes for licensed premises, door staff, and support roles — covering trauma response, VAWG, safeguarding, and de-escalation.
Collaborative Partnership Work: Aligning public services, private operators, and local stakeholders to build consistent, community-led safety networks.
On-the-Ground Safety Teams: Deploying visible, professional teams in high-footfall areas to assist venues, support the public, and reduce pressure on emergency services.
Why It Matters Now
As the UK recovers from the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, its night-time economy faces record levels of violence and VAWG-related offences. These are not isolated issues — they affect towns and cities nationwide.
The National Night Safety Partnership is responding with urgency and unity. Town by town. City by city. Together, we are building a culture of safety, vigilance, and shared responsibility.
